NO MORE EXCUSES
Like many Americans, I watched (portions) of the trial of the Penn State assistant coach who had been charged and convicted of child sexual abuse. I wonder if he, or we, have ever read Numbers 32:23? “…Be sure that your sin will find you out.” We must come to realize that in essence, there really is no public life or private life, at least where God is concerned. It’s all the same to Him. He sees everything! “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.” (Prv. 15:3) Why not just be who you are at all times in all places with all people? But we falter into worldly ways too often.
Unfortunately, it’s becoming more common these days that the defense will argue that the accused has some ‘disease’ that causes them to act in an inappropriate manner. Of course! They most certainly do have a disease. But it’s not something that’s medically wrong with them. The disease they have is called – sin. We’re all born with it. (Ps. 51:5; John 3:1-21) We’ve all had it! And it must be repented of, not given an excuse or a cover up. We must call it what it is – sin!
We’ve all sinned. Every human being is born into it because of The Fall of Adam and Eve. We’ve all fallen short of the glory of God as stated in Romans 3:23 and many other places in God’s Word. We are all without excuse because God has made a way for our righteousness through the sacrifice of Jesus. He sheds light into everything. “For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed. But he who practices the truth, comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.” (John 3:20) Our way of life takes on a holy ambience of godly light as we walk with Jesus.
We could all take lessons from this one high profile case, but there are in fact, so many other criminal cases of which we ought to take note of that use these flimsy excuses. The system in the courts today seem to protect the criminal far more than the victims. There must be compassion and concern for both but is true justice being served? Let’s see what the Lord Most High God has to say.
The question is: Who do we think we are anyway? Are we awash in pretentious medical diseases that make excuses for bad human behavior? Could we be avoiding the main cause? What’s the diagnosis? Certainly some things are medically responsible like schizophrenia and much compassion is needed in those situations. And wonderfully, nothing is too difficult for God. He can heal anyone of anything at any time! (Luke 1:37; 18:27; Matt. 8:16). Nevertheless, the rampant overuse of excuses for sin, are unbelievable! Let’s not be a partaker of such dangerous and even deadly antics.
Romans 1:18-20 makes it very clear that we are without excuse for bad behavior in our lives. The Apostle Paul writes in the aforementioned scriptures: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”
Our entire life is public to God! Nothing is hidden from Him who sees all things, from Him who created all things. Who do we think we are? Do any one of us think we can lead a double life and yet not ever be revealed? He who sees all things, sees us in our 24/7 life day and night every single day of our entire lives. That ought to put the holy, reverential fear of God upon us if nothing else will! The Lord’s own words in Mark 4:22 should move our hearts to repentance when He says, “For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it should come to light.” It’s not just the dark, sinful hearts that will be revealed, but the true repentant ones as well – those who have been washed and cleansed by the power of the Blood of Jesus. Do I hear an ‘Amen’?! I don’t know about you, but that sure makes me more comfortable!
An Open Book
Let us always keep in mind, that He who formed us within our mother’s womb knows us intimately. (Jer. 1:5) He knows every hair on our head. He knows our every move throughout our entire lives. He’s aware of how we’ll live each day of our lives on earth. And when we reach the age of accountability, He stands at the door of our hearts and beckons us to come into His heart and into His kingdom forevermore. If, and when we do this, we are enjoined to His holiness, power and victory all the days of our lives and into eternity itself. It’s so empowering and so wonderful. No one has to grovel in this life. We can be lifted up out of the miry clay!
It is of course, a most wonderful thing to know that when we truly repent and come to our Savior Jesus Christ, our ugly sins are completely wiped away forever. What an amazing comfort we have in the Lord Jesus! Isaiah 43:25 is marvelous saying: “I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.”
Certainly any one of us may ‘fall from grace’ from time to time as life throws different trials our way. Nevertheless, we can be restored anew with a cleansing and washing through His blood and through His Name by bowing before Him. The Lord will wonderfully embrace us again upon repentance – not excuses.
Acts 3:19 is a joyful comfort to those who bow in true repentance of their mess ups: “Repent therefore and return, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Beloved believers, there’s nothing like the healing Presence of the Lord that restores us and brings wonderful refreshment to our souls! Excuses do not restore. Repentance does.
No more excuses!
A SIGN AND A WONDER
Beloved saints, a few days ago I had an incredible experience with the Lord. I truly believe it has everything to do with repentance, revival and refreshing that’s about to come to many places around the globe. It’s very thrilling indeed! We shall be without excuses for our sins, and we shall begin to turn en masse to the Lord Jesus, our Divine Savior. Multitudes are coming!
In this experience, I had been sitting in our screened-in porch early in the morning having my personal time alone with God. It was a beautiful sunny, summer June day here in Iowa. I was enjoying the breath of fresh air these warm months bring. The sun had risen against a blue sky with a few white, fluffy clouds. With the blue of the Des Moines River in the background of our home, it was gorgeously picturesque!
Then suddenly, it happened. I couldn’t believe it!
A downpour of rain fell outside the porch off to my right and it appeared almost cylinder in shape about 3-4 feet wide and lasted about 30 seconds. It came so suddenly, it scared me at first. But I’d no sooner taken note of it when it stopped. Thus, I just dismissed it because it was simply too baffling to figure out.
Suddenly, it happened again! I looked up at the blue sky and couldn’t see where this sudden downpour was coming from. It stopped about 30 seconds later. Again, I somewhat dismissed it, but did go tell my husband. He looked at me with a laugh in his eyes! I don’t blame him. I felt a bit goofy myself!
I sat down again to try to continue my time with the Lord.
But it happened a third time in the same manner! This time, I got up and went outside to get a better look at the skies above and to check around our house. “There couldn’t be a water hose hanging from a tree could there?” I laughed. But straight above were still the beautiful blue sky and white fluffy clouds. “Strange!” I thought to myself. But I was beginning to sense the ‘fear of the Lord’ and felt a trembling within! “Was He trying to tell me something?”
I began to sit very still and wait upon the Lord. And as I did, the ‘downpour of waters’ happened for the fourth and final time! I became afraid, in a holy sense of course, as truly the holy, reverential fear of God came over me.
I feel I could write a whole book about this amazing experience with the cylinder of rain falling. I also want to say, that just nine days before this happened, I asked my husband if he could smell or hear the ‘rain’ as we were outside walking to our car after a Bible Study. He could not. Nevertheless, I could smell it and hear it, but immediately dismissed it. But it quickly came to mind when this happened!
So my question to you, beloved saints is, why would the Lord give this sign especially now? I believe it’s because many things are about to change in many ways around the world, especially in the church. Old ways of doing things are about to give way to fresh, vibrant aliveness through the power of the Holy Spirit. In other words, a revival of epic portions is coming! I do not know when, but I do know it is coming – soon!
Here’s what I gleaned from this incredible experience and may I add, if you receive even more revelation, let me know.
1) The rain itself was beautifully profound because I knew it had to do with ‘refreshing’ and that coincides with revival. Much of the church has been in a dry spell for too long. Certainly she needs I Kings 18 to come and drench her! O Lord, may the severe droughts end and let us’ hear the sound of a heavy shower!’ It is manifesting already! Do you also feel the ‘fear of the Lord’ upon you? Prepare! Prepare!
I was led to Acts 3:19, “Repent therefore and return, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” (My emphasis) I just quoted this scripture above in the opening of this IWG Journal. So repentance is, and has always been, a key factor in times of visitation and refreshing from the Lord. We need to get our houses in order and that begins with each one personally. Let there be no more excuses for sins! Simply put, repentance is key to survival, so let’s pay attention to the signs and wonders that God is giving us in this pertinent and precarious hour of humanity!
The Lord wants to refresh our tired minds, hearts and spirits with His Living Water! He wants a harvest of souls at the End of the Age. Are we nearing that timeframe? All I know is that this encounter with God drew me into Ezekiel 47 and how the waters from the Throne were rising until it was too broad to cross in the human perspective. Is this passage of scripture coming to pass? Let us keep in mind Jesus’ words in John 7:38, “He who believes in Me, as the Scriptures said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’” Yes! Let the River of God rise up in us and over us, bringing refreshment to weary souls everywhere!
2) It was no small matter that this downpour of rain came nine days after I’d encountered the smell and sound of ‘rain.’ In a normal pregnancy, upon the completion of nine months, a baby is born when the mother’s water breaks. Spiritual waters are breaking forth and I sense there are a lot of new births coming into the kingdom of God and are about to flood our churches! O Lord, let the holy floods come!
3) Another revelation I was shown, is that the rain is also ‘reign.’ We are called to reign with Christ and we must take hold of this truth to a higher degree than ever before. It’s time we live a victorious life-style that makes the world envious and desirous of what we have in the Lord Jesus! Ruling and reigning with Christ assures us of overcoming many things the enemy has tried to derail us with. “If we endure, we shall also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He also will deny us.” 2 Timothy 2:12. I first smelled and heard the rain on June 12th. Again, the fear of God is upon me! How about you? Let’s go for the REIGN of God in our lives! (See also Rev. 20:6; 22:5)
4) No doubt the number four is significant. When constructing a building, it’s important that the ‘foundation’ is soundly and securely set on four corners or footings. O Lord, may our homes and churches be built on solid footings, solid ground – the holy scriptures, so they are not washed away with compromised or twisted biblical doctrines. Beloved believers, this is key! We must pay heed to this because there are now those who are rewriting their version of God’s Word to say what they want it to say. Beware! (1 Tim. 4; 6:3-5; 2 Tim. 3)
There is just too much to relate here in regards to the number four, but allow me to give you just a few more:
- In Genesis 2 take note of how the river in Eden branched into four parts and fertilized the earth. (Vs. 10) Key word here is ‘fertilized.’ It’s as though God’s people are being fertilized/anointed - if you will, around the globe to the four corners of the earth, and are being drawn into a whole new level of His power and glory. Astounding growth in God’s kingdom will sweep across the earth in these Last Days. Watch for it. It’s beginning to rain! We’re rising up to reign!
- Of course most of us are aware of the Four Living Creatures with the four prophetic faces in the opening chapter of Ezekiel. Are we about to encounter these glorious Creatures of God Most High?!
- Then too, don’t forget about the parable of the four different soils. Only one was saved and became productive. Which one are you and I? It’s time we know! (Matt. 13)
As I was finishing this article, the Holy Spirit brought another revelation about this ‘downpour’ or this ‘waterfall’ that I saw in the natural realm outside our porch, but which speaks volumes spiritually. Remember that 1 Corinthians 15:46 says the natural comes first, then the spiritual.
If any of you watched the TV coverage of one of the most treacherous and successful high wire walks ever performed worldwide by Nik Wallenda over Niagara Falls, you will remember his unflinching, focused walk. And you will recall how this Christian man gave public honor and thanks to Jesus for helping him accomplish this amazingly dangerous feat. The world heard his testimony! Sure sounds a lot like the Gospel being preached all over the word before the Return of Jesus doesn’t it? People of God, let us be just as brave as Mr. Wallenda and not flinch in letting people know where our strength and power resides - in our Savior Jesus.
May the Living Waters of our Redeemer cascade over our hearts for renewal, refreshing and reviving!
Speak out and speak up, Church! Do not be silent. Step up, step out, and step into the HIGH calling in Christ Jesus for victories in your own life as inspiration to others.
*Footnote to the downpour of rain. Sandy Warner had a word on her website recently called, ‘Deluge Coming. Grandstands won’t hold them.’ She talks about how the Lord spoke to her about the ‘final outpouring,’ and the early and latter rains spoken of in Hosea 6. She had a dream as well about a ‘sudden downpour.’ There is so much more to this prophetic word. It’s worth a read as it aligns with all of the above I just shared with you! Prophecy is confirmed in the mouth of two or three witnesses. Go to: www.thequickenedword.com.
HOLY COMMUNION PRAYER
Everything is changing and shifting into the greatest revival the world has ever known. It seems that all the major prophetic voices of the day, are resounding the same things regarding this wonderful harvest of souls. So many of them are speaking of ‘out of the box’ things taking place…old paradigms are shifting. I truly believe one of those is in the way we’ve taken Holy Communion for hundreds, if not the past several thousand years. Just as Martin Luther’s incredible strength and fortitude brought significant shifts in the Church in the 1400’s, it’s happening again today.
There is a way into the Holy of Holies. There is a way into deeper spiritual intimacy with God. There is way into residing within the divine Savior’s holy heart where nothing can shake you – ever! There is a strength that goes beyond Samson’s in the Old Testament. There is a healing, deliverance and power that goes beyond anything of this world! Do you want this? How are you going to get these things in your life?
Encountering the Lamb of God in Holy Communion, seeing His face, feeling His divine and holy breath is utterly life changing. Communion catapults you into the glories of God! O Taste and see that the Lord is good!
This is the next installment of my sharing with you during 2012, my intimate encounters with the Lord during Holy Communion. My book on this topic will be published this year, and the CD with other intimate Communion prayers is already available. My prayer is that you will begin to take in this divine and extravagant encounter with the Lamb of God to a whole new degree than you ever thought possible! Believe me, there is a coming revival in this personal time with the Lord Jesus. It is equipping us for the End Times! If you’re able, please share your experiences with us as you use these prayers in each month’s issue of the IWG Journal. It encourages all of us!
Now – go somewhere privately (your bedroom or office, or your back yard…wherever) and experience the Lord’s Presence in your private prayer closet with the bread and wine. You can’t help but be changed when you experience this divine encounter with the Lamb of God! It’s heavenly bliss on earth’s soil. Amen!
