Feast of Trumpets - New month New moon New year
As the verdant colors of summer give way to a new variety of vibrant autumn colors, let us set our hearts on the newness of this next season. People of God, be encouraged that we have now entered a new season of change in more ways than just the changing foliage. It’s a time of turning, returning, regrouping, resetting, restarting where we may have left off in the last spiritual season of our lives. The trumpets of God are sounding loud and clear through the Jewish Feast of Trumpets, a sound that we must answer His call, His alert to go to higher spiritual ground.
We are headed upward and not downward. We are headed into great and wonderful promises being fulfilled from God Most High as we seek Him as never before. So let’s recalibrate our mind, heart, and soul to be sensitized to His glorious Presence and power arising even greater in our lives. Are we actively seeking this? I can tell you from an up close and personal situation in my life right now with my fight against pancreatic cancer, that I’m learning to see things in a whole new perspective. And shouldn’t our trials take us higher instead of groveling in the lower, base things of this world? Certainly!
For any one of us, it shouldn’t take such dire circumstances for us to passionately seek the Lord with everything within us. However, for most of you reading this IWG Journal, like myself, you’ve been on that journey for awhile seeking ever deepening spiritual intimacy with Him going from glory to glory just as spoken of in 2 Corinthians 3:18. However, with world events being what they are with ISIS, the spread of the Ebola disease, severe weather patterns wreaking havoc, etc., it’s causing many of God’s people to draw closer into His holy heart of divine security. We truly are entering some interesting and precarious times. But God’s Breath declares to us in 1 John 4:4, “Greater is He who is in us than He that is in the world,” and in verse18, “perfect love casts out fear.” So do we have God’s Breath, His Word residing within us fully? Have you received God’s perfect love?
The feast of new beginnings
With this Jewish Feast of Trumpets now upon us, I’m sure many do not think of this time of year as a new beginning, and yet according to God’s calendar, it is. As believers in Yeshua, God Almighty and being the children of Abraham, we have been grafted into the Jewish lineage through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. So we are Jewish on our Father Abraham’s side of the family! [See Romans 11] We certainly should join with our Jewish family and commemorate these very important and meaningful feasts. Truly, they can reset or recalibrate things in our lives for true fulfillment, peace and joy beyond what this world can give. So it is wise for us to acknowledge and honor our Jewish roots. Support Israel. Pray for Israel. After all, it is where Jesus will reign for a 1,000 years in His Second Coming and we will be there with Him in that holy place. How awesome will that be?! [See Rev. 21.]
Tabernacle of Testimony
The morning of my cancer surgery a few months ago, I awoke with one lone word from the Lord. In my childlike faith, I was actually expecting something quite spectacular with such a serious situation going on, like maybe an angelic visitation, or the sound of trumpets heralding my surgery had been cancelled, or some such fantastic encounter with the Lord! Nevertheless, since He knows all things, He knew I’d RUN with that ‘one word’! And I have! I’ve sliced, diced, and dissected it every way I’ve known how to do, studying it to the ‘nth’ degree.
You know what that one word was? It was: “Testify!” I think I could now write a book on that one subject alone. However, what I feel the Lord would have me convey in this IWG Journal at this moment in time, is that the Tabernacle of Testimony is upon us! And it has begun during this important Jewish Feast of Trumpets. Beloved friends of God, we must begin to share the power of the Gospel of Jesus now more than ever! Speak up. Testify. Relate what He’s done for you. He can do the same for a struggling family member, a co-worker, a neighbor. Sound the trumpet! Sound the alarm! Read the short book of Joel to see the power of this. Chapter 2 begins with these words: “Blow a trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming, surely it is near. Verse 11 says: “The Lord utters His voice before His army; surely His camp is very great, for strong is he who carries out His Word. The day of the Lord is indeed great and very awesome, and who can endure it?” We’ve simply got to ‘carry out His Word’!
Eighteen years ago in a dramatic encounter I had with the Lord, He told me to ask Him for 500,000 new souls for our area alone! Joel 3:14 was His Word of confirmation to me and it’s been branded with fire by the Holy Spirit into my heart ever since: “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.” You and I may not be a famous preacher standing on a platform before multitudes, but we still have a platform right where we are with those within our sphere of influence. It’s time to testify! It’s time to speak up about the saving grace of the Lord. And don’t forget your Jewish roots as Joel 3, verse 16 declares, “The Lord roars from Zion and utters His voice, from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth tremble. But the Lord is a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the sons of Israel.” Oh how wonderfully secure we are in our Jewish heritage. Cherish it! Testify of it! Testify about the Jewish Carpenter who died so we could be free!
It is costly
You can be assured precious believers in Yeshua [Jesus], that as you testify to His glory and how He’s changed your own life in so many ways, you qualify yourself to dwell in the holy place of the ‘Tabernacle of Testimony’! Holy! Holy! In Exodus 38:21, we first learn of this amazing place of power. In this passage, we are shown the cost of the tabernacle. So it is costly, but it is powerful and beautiful! We need to ask ourselves if we are truly displaying the beauty of the Lord in our lives to those around us. Or is all they’re seeing is whining, complaining and stories of ‘woe is me’? Are we really walking out the ‘divine displays’ of God, or are we not? No one will be drawn to the Tabernacle of the Lord if all they see in us is negativity. There’s no inspiration in that.
However, if you and I are in fact, living out our divine destiny of being priests in the New Covenant before the Lord as shown in Revelation 1:6, “…He has made us to be a kingdom of priests…” [See also Rev. 5:10; 20:6], we will certainly be dwelling in that holy place of the Tabernacle of Testimony. This is our destiny according to the calling of the priesthood of the Levites in Numbers 1:50 in the Old Testament. Oh what a high calling we have! What amazing intimacy with God! It empowers us to testify no matter our situation or circumstance or who is nearby. We are enabled and compelled to testify to God’s glory. As we do this, victory is solidified in our own lives and others will want what we have. Keep in mind those three Hebrew boys in Daniel chapter 3, Shadrach, Meshack and Abed-nego. They walked through fire and were saved. Wow, did they ever quality for the Tabernacle of Testimony! And of course, it changed a lot of things, including King Nebuchadnezzar’s recognition ‘that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind… and that heaven rules!’ (Dan. 4) So what are you walking through right now? Can you still give glory to God and give a testimony to how He’s keeping you in the midst of the storms of life?
I sense a NEW ERA of the church is approaching. The world is growing more evil and persecution of God’s people is coming. But there will be no fear of man in us because we will be equipped as never before from that divine position of the Tabernacle of Testimony. But there will be the holy, reverential fear of God falling! So having our priesthood within that tabernacle, and with increasing intimacy with the Lord from that position, we will be empowered with the message of His Gospel that will go far and wide with great impact.
This Tabernacle of Testimony is indeed an awesome dwelling place within our hearts in the here and now. Revelation 15:5 shows us the Presence and power of God that consumes our lives in such a wonderful way as to take us into that greater and greater experience of intimacy with Him. It says in part, “…Great and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God Almighty; righteous and true are Your ways, King of the nations! Who will not fear, O Lord and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy; for all the nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.” After these things I looked and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened….” Wow, what a sight that will be! All our words, all our testimonies will be revealed.
Finally beloved friends of God, let us now turn our hearts to these important days ahead of us during these upcoming Jewish Feasts. We have been called and commissioned to dwell in the holy place of God’s amazing tabernacle behind the veil, with ever increasing spiritual intimacy with Him. [2 Cor. 3:18] We must testify to its glory so that many more may become kingdom priests. When the Lord gave me that one word the morning of my surgery, I have to say, that one word has carried me powerfully. I know it will for you as well.
