HIS PRAISE FILLS THE TEMPLE
For me personally, the past two months have been a whirlwind of doctors, hospitals and a major surgery for pancreatic cancer. But one thing is certain, God’s praise has filled this little, frail being of mine! As many of you may have noted, last month’s IWG Journal was rather short because I had no time to write one. Nevertheless, the little that was written seemed to minister to many people. I took it literally to give praise to our wonderful Lord Jesus no matter what my body was feeling. I did this day and night in different ways either singing worship songs in my heart to Him, quoting scriptures or reading His Word even in the middle of the night. I felt His divine Presence filling this fragile temple of mine. He is ever near – always. He’s an awesome God!
What is it you are going through right now in your own life? What should one do when faced with an extreme difficulty or trial? As believers, we are called to do what we’ve always done and will do for all eternity – praise, adore and magnify the Lord’s mighty Name because He is forever worthy, just as I stated in the August IWG Journal. But I learned it this month in a whole new way. May I share it with you?
New level, new devil
Many of you are aware of Joyce Meyer’s famous statement, “New level; new devil.” What she’s saying in that statement is that you can expect fierce, demonic spiritual warfare as you attempt to ascend higher into the things of God. If you can prevail in your passion, commitment and love for the Lord when things aren’t going well, you can prevail in all things at all times! He has designed us to be overcomers through His mighty Name - the Name above all names. Everything is subject to Him forever and ever! We’ve got to remember that.
A favorite scripture of mine has always been Rev. 12:11 and it’s going to become even more important that we know this truth as the darkness of The Last Days comes upon an upcoming generation. “And they overcame him [the enemy] because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.” Ironically, or maybe not so ironic, the morning my husband and I awoke to leave our hotel room for the surgical center at the Iowa City Hospitals and Clinics, there was one word the Lord awoke me with. That word was, “Testify!” And that’s Revelation 12:11 to be sure, but so much more! There is always MORE in God’s Word because He takes us from glory to glory. There is always an abounding amount of revelation in every Word He’s given us in the Holy Scriptures. Cling to them, consume them every day, day by day so that you can remain strong in mind, body and spirit.
After wonderfully surviving a dramatic 8 hour surgery, there were nights in that hospital bed that seemed long and drawn out, as I waited for the dawning of another new day, glad to be alive! But oh, those nights seemed very long indeed. But there was one night in particular the enemy came to taunt me and he was relentless! It was the deepest, darkest spiritual warfare I’ve ever known. But in my heart I knew he could not ‘take me out,’ because my heart was fixed on the Lord and I felt this was a test to my undying commitment to my Holy Savior, Jesus. I would not fail Him! I would not give in to anxiety, anger, despair, depression and a host of negatives the horrid enemy tried to lay upon my soul. I fought hard, very hard. But the battle wasn’t really mine, it was the Lord’s and He has already taken it for me on the Cross! I didn’t have to bear it! What a revelation! So I just began to praise, praise, praise the Lord as often as my mind and heart would allow. The enemy began to shrivel up and then disappeared. No doubt he does not like a praising Christian. Amen!
So as I lay on my bed, I began to pray in this manner:
“Lord you are lovely. You are Lord of lords, King of kings. You are beautiful. You are holy. Always! Always, You are lovely. Always, You are holy, holy, holy. Ever holy, ever beautiful and You always do the holy and beautiful things. You are my joy, my constant joy. You are my forever joy! I will praise You forever and ever and ever. There is no end to my joy in You. It is ever lasting, everlasting joy that the world does not know of. It is heavenly. It is spectacular, because You are spectacular. You are Joy. You are Love. You are eternal Love! You are a never ending Love that has begun in this life and will last forevermore. It’s astounding, and it’s holy, and it’s utterly beautiful. It caresses my heart to overflowing beauty and victory. I am victorious by Your blood You shed for me at Calvary. I am overflowing with Living Waters and Your holy, spectacular waters are washing over every part of my being. I am being washed, cleansed and set free by the power of Your beautiful, glorious Name! Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!
“You hold me in your arms. I am safe in Your arms of love. I am protected forevermore. You are my King of glory. Oh how glorious You are. I extol You! I exalt You! I adore You! I worship You! I praise You! I lift You up. I magnify and glorify Your Name. You are worthy of praise. You are ever, eternally worthy of all praise, all adoration, all worship forever and ever. You inhabit the praises of Your people. In Your Presence is fullness of joy! Your Presence makes me whole. Our love has no ending. It is pure, it is holy, it is amazing, it is astoundingly beautiful!
“I will magnify Your Name. I will adore Your magnificent Name now and forevermore. You fill me up to overflowing. I am set free by the power of Your mighty love. I am forgiven. I am healed. I am your child. You will never leave me or forsake me. I am Yours forever and ever and ever. We are together now, and in paradise for all eternity. Nothing can shake me. Nothing can deter me from Your holy, amazing love. You deserve all the glory, all the honor, all the praise that all of humanity can pour out unto Your Holy Name! The Name at which every knee will bow – sooner or later, every knee has to bow, will bow whether willingly or unwillingly – every knee in heaven and earth will bow to Your mighty Name of Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Oh how I love You. Oh how I adore you. My heart explodes with ecstatic joy because you fill up every fiber of my being now and forevermore. Holy! Holy! Holy!”
Not a super hero
These declarations didn’t make me a super hero. But it did help me to focus my heart, my will, my mind, my life on where it should be – on Him and not myself. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Too often we get self-centered when going through big battles. We must remember that we weren’t designed to carry these battles. Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. [John 10:10] Therefore, we weren’t designed to carry these huge weights the enemy and the world wants to put on us. Reject it quickly. Pass it along to Jesus Who bore all our sin and sickness on the Cross.
Then get on with life, true life in the Lord, abundant, full, joyful life while giving all glory and honor to our wonderful Lord Jesus who has won the victory for us! “And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.” [My emphasis. 1 Peter 2:24] He took all my sin. He took all my diseases. He took it all! Jesus bore it all! Be FREE in Jesus Name, for by His stripes you and I are FREE from sin - and, are healed from all diseases no matter how they’re defined. Embrace and hold close to your heart Psalm103:1-5, “Bless the Lord O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with loving kindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.” [My emphasis]
Get on with life, true life in our glorious Lord!
